In one week, we’ll be joining PTs from across the country at the APTA NEXT Conference! As you join the over 2,000 physical therapy professionals at APTA next week, you might be curious to find things to do in Orlando. While Disney is usually the first thing that comes to mind when planning activities, there are plenty of other things to do in Orlando! We’ve rounded up just a few of the endless fun you can have in the sunshine state.

Downtown Orlando

If you want to avoid the kid friendly activities, just stay in the Downtown Orlando area. Stroll around Lake Eola, or explore by renting a swan shaped paddleboat. In the evening, make your way to Wall Street Plaza for a city block jam packed with restaurants, nightclubs, and bars. From Mexican food and American classics to colorful cocktails and beers on tap, there’s something to satisfy everyone’s tastes.

Kennedy Space Center

Visit the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for a chance to explore our ongoing space journey. Learn about past NASA missions, including the iconic race to the moon. Various simulators help you imagine what it’s like to train like an astronaut and finally, come face to face with the actual space shuttle Atlantis. Trust us, it’s a sight worth seeing.

I-Drive

If you want to experience the most tourist attractions Orlando can offer, look no further than International Drive, or I-Drive. Mini golf galore and multiple themed dinner shows are there for your choosing. Check out the Icon Orlando, the tallest observation wheel in the east coast, topping at 400 feet. Right nearby you can also find a Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and the Sea Life Aquarium.

Universal Studios

You know we had to include some kind of theme park, right? Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures is home to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, as well as, multiple rollercoasters and 3-D rides. Once you’re done immersing yourself in the world of Harry Potter, take a stroll through City Walk, where nightlife fun is the name of the game. Just remember if you want to ride the Hogwarts Express, you have to get a park-to-park ticket!

Shop Till You Drop

Want to keep things simple? Have fun going shopping instead! Between the 3 outlets in the area, you’ll have over 300 stores to delve into. Is that too overwhelming? Head over to the Florida Mall, Central Florida’s largest shopping center. Finally, Mall of Millenia offers a more upscale experience with luxury brands such a Cartier, Prada, Tiffany & Co. and Versace.
