kirsten-croppedWe’re starting 2015 right by featuring another one of our rock star therapists; Kirsten! Kirsten has been a traveler with Advanced Medical for over 2 years now, having completed over 12 consecutive assignments. Consistently asked to extend and often personally requested by previous clients, she has truly made a name for herself in the travel therapy world. She is hardworking, patient oriented and loves to explore! Licensed in 5 states, she is accustomed to moving around, often with just a moments notice, and is more interested in a job than the location which has enabled her to truly fit the title of “travel therapist” and make the most out of this experience thus far.

Hailing from Jacksonville, this Florida girl has been to California, Pennsylvania, Texas, North Carolina and is currently on assignment in her home state.Kirsten has a “take the bull by the horns” attitude and leaves a positive and lasting impression, wherever she goes. Her personal skills and abilities, coupled with her experience as a traveler, has enabled her to see progression with patients that, prior to her arrival, were showing no signs of improving – which often leaves the other therapists and/or managers in a state of both amazement and wonder at how she was able to obtain these results.

The 411 On Kirsten

Why or how did you get into therapy? I got into travel  therapy because I thought it was the perfect opportunity to combine two things that I love: being a speech therapist and traveling.

Hobbies? Some of my hobbies include playing guitar, reading, crochet, and cycling. I also love to explore and seek adventures on the weekends -like flying a plane, driving a race car, or skydiving!

kirsten2Favorite travel location and why? I’ve made many friends and enjoyed so many places that I’ve worked but I think I enjoyed exploring California and the west coast the most.

Where would your dream assignment be and why?I love the medical aspect of what I do and would love the opportunity to return to a trauma type of setting. But I love any assignment that lets me explore new an exciting places, so of course I would love an assignment on a tropical island!

Favorite book or movie? I don’t have a favorite book, I’ll read anything. Favorite movie is The Notebook.

If you could have one superpower what would it be, and why? If I could have a superpower, I would want to be able to fly.

We are extremely lucky to have such an amazing therapist as a part of the Advanced Medical Family and we look forward to her continuing to travel with us for many years to come!
