Introducing Alyssa Hunter MA, CCC-SLP as New Grad Program Coordinator
We’re so proud to welcome Alyssa Hunter MA, CCC-SLP to the Advanced Fam as our New Grad Program Coordinator! With experience in both home health and school settings, she is also fluent in Spanish and specialized in bilingual language development. Born and raised in Chicago, she recently moved to Denver to pursue her love for the outdoors. When she’s not providing support to our CFs and new grad therapists, Alyssa spends her time hiking and exploring the city.
Can you tell me about your experience as an SLP?
I was very lucky to have found Speech Therapy as a career while I was in high school, so I was able to start my SLP journey at a young age. I earned my undergrad and graduate degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign where I was able to pursue incredible clinical experiences and be mentored by leaders in the field. Since then I have provided bilingual speech therapy in diverse school programs as well as home health services. I have primarily worked with the pediatric population and have enjoyed evaluating and treating a wide spectrum of diagnosis from speech sound disorders to medically complex cases.
Do you have an area of expertise as an SLP?
I am fluent in Spanish and specialize in bilingual language development. I am passionate about working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations across the lifespan and settings. I have been fortunate to provide volunteer speech language therapy services in Spain as well as Mexico, which enhanced my holistic treatment and evaluation of clients.
What do you hope to bring to Advanced?
I am honored to be Advanced’s New Grad program coordinator. Throughout my career as a speech therapist I have experienced a variety of mentorship styles and I believe that with the right support each therapist can reach their fullest potential. I am excited to help make the transition from University to a first job as smooth as possible.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I love anything to do with travel and adventure. I have traveled to 18 countries and counting! Also, I am a certified yoga instructor and have led two international yoga retreats. When I’m not traveling or hiking, I love trying new restaurants and listening to live music.
We’re so excited to have Alyssa join the Advanced Fam! Curious about our New Grad Program for therapists?
