OT Settings in Pennsylvania

At Advanced Travel Therapy, we like to think of jobs as adventures and careers as paths that evolve with a therapist’s choices. No one should feel stuck or forced when they start their career. So we offer our new grads an environment where they can grow personally and professionally knowing that they are stable and supported.

Travel therapists can change locations, teams, work hours, facilities, and most importantly, settings. If you’re a new grad OT who isn’t quite sure what setting to commit to after graduation, don’t worry, you don’t have to.

With us, you can explore settings knowing you have financial stability, health insurance, and a robust support system.  Below you will find short descriptions of a few of the settings you can explore in Pennsylvania.

Skilled Nursing Facility

A travel assignment at a SNF will give a new grad OT experience with individuals who require inpatient rehabilitation after illness or injury. You’ll also get the opportunity to work alongside other healthcare professionals because SNFs employ OTs, PTs, SLPs, audiologists and nurses to offer patients interdisciplinary and comprehensive care plans. OT interventions at a SNF will vary depending on the patient’s needs and can range from environment modifications to providing opportunities for engagement in meaningful activities despite patient limitations.

Not everyone dreams of working with pediatric patients, but helping youngsters be the best they can be must be really fulfilling. In a school setting, new grad OTs will work with parents, educators, administrators, and students to create healthy environments that are conducive to learning. OT interventions in schools can range from conducting environment analyses to providing assistive technology to support student success.

Outpatient settings tend to be a little more laid-back than others. Clients who seek outpatient services are medically stable and usually motivated to better the quality of their lives. Outpatient OTs will help clients with different backgrounds and diagnoses reach higher levels of functional independence.

Pennsylvania OT Licensure Board State Board of Occupational Therapy Education and License

P.O. Box 2649, Harrisburg, PA 17105

The cost and process of licensure can make it an anxiety producing topic, especially for new grads who don’t really know their way around quite yet. This is why we cover licensure in our “No Worries” Job Solution. We reimburse our travel therapists for one license per assignment, ensuring that there are no concerns when it comes to cost. Our Advanced Recruiters also offer as much help as possible when it comes to acquiring the license.

Living In Pennsylvania

If you like U.S. History, you will absolutely love Pennsylvania. PA’s motto is “Virtue, Liberty, and Independence” and you can see its significance across the state. It is the home of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. It was also the site of the Battle of Gettysburg. There are multiple avenues to immerse oneself in the state's glorious history. Even if you are not a way-back-when buff, you will find yourself inspired and moved by many of America’s greatest moments.

Almost as impressive as its history is Pennsylvania’s geographical terrain. It presents the outdoor enthusiast with mountains, plateaus, rolling hills, and valleys. Forests are punctuated by beautiful rivers and great American towns and cities. With the ability to experience each of the four seasons to the fullest, OTs hoping for adventure will be able to hike, bike, climb, fish, and paddle across the lush landscape the state provides.

The “Keystone State” also offers a slew of awesome city destinations to explore. Whether you want good food, music, art, or shopping,  you’ll find it around every corner you turn. In Philadelphia, you can check out Reading Terminal Market, World Café Live, and the King Of Prussia Mall. If you’re near Pittsburgh, you may want to walk through the Strip District or Station Square to see what’s hot in PA. A Pennsylvania assignment will also bring you pretty close to other must-see cities like D.C. and New York, which will only be a road trip away!
