Hospital settings can present you with acute in-patient or outpatient experience. In acute facilities, a PT will spend more time with a patient to help stabilize him or her after illness, surgery, an accident, or trauma. In an outpatient hospital setting, a PT will generally focus on orthopedic or neuromuscular concerns on a visit basis. Hospitals are great settings for new grad PTs to start building and refining their skills.

Skilled Nursing Facilities
PTs in SNFs will assist in the rehabilitation of those suffering after illness or injury. In this setting you will get the chance to work with a highly qualified team of caregivers. SNFs usually employ nurses, OTs, PTs, SLPs, and audiologists. You will learn to be a part of a comprehensive and caring support system for a patient, which is a great growing experience for any good therapist.
The annual mean wage for this setting is $91,490.
If you are a new grad PT who is worried about routine and monotony, then home health is a good setting to try! Offering services in a patients' homes means moving around, creating positive, one-on-one relationships, and a wide array of conditions to treat. You also get the opportunity to work with patient populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric.
