PT Settings in Texas

Advanced Travel Therapy has positions across Texas. That’s the beauty of working with Advanced and becoming a travel therapist right out of school. A new grad PT may want to try multiple settings before settling for one, or grow within one setting but across multiple locations and with different teams. Travel therapy gives you that freedom to grow both professionally and personally while still making great money. You will find yourself thriving in the professional flexibility and financial stability. Below you can read short descriptions of a few of the settings you will find in Texas.

Home Health

Home Health patients range from pediatric to geriatric. This setting gives a new grad PT the opportunity to work with many different patient populations while treating varying diagnoses such as, joint replacement, fractures, stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, heart failure, and more. So if you are a new grad who wants to avoid routine and move around through your work day meeting different patients, home health may be a great setting for you to try out!

Skilled Nursing Facilities

SNFs are a great setting for PTs that want to grow their teamwork skills. The teams in SNFs typically consist of PTs, OTs, SLPs, audiologists, and nurses.  In these facilities, PTs will see an interdisciplinary approach in action and be a part of the comprehensive care plans offered to patients. PTs in SNFs will work with other healthcare professionals to assist in the rehabilitative care of those suffering after illness or injury.

Acute Care

In an acute setting, new grad PTs will treat patients admitted into short-term care. These patients may be recovering from a surgery, an accident, or illness. Here you will learn how to assist in the stabilization of a patient to be discharged safely.  Acute care is a perfect setting for a new grad to start building and refining skills.

New grad therapists tend to become uneasy around the topic of state licensing for travel assignments. Part of our “No Worries” Job Solution is making sure that acquiring licenses is not a concern. Many of our travelers are licensed in over 6 states. They have pursued this path to enhance their sense of freedom and adventure, and to gain more diverse clinical experience. Some travelers only get licensed in one or two states. The choice is always yours. Your Advanced Travel Therapy recruiter will help you acquire your Texas license, housing that you love, and everything else you need to make your choices stress-free and easy. We will also reimburse you for the license you acquire for your TX assignment!

Living In Texas

There is no good place to start explaining what it would be like to live in Texas. This state is truly incredible and worth exploring. Did you know that Texas was once a country called the Republic of Texas? And if it were still an independent country it would be the 40th largest after Chile!

Trivia aside, Texas has such a large and diverse geography that you can experience almost every landscape without leaving its borders. You can spend a day on a Gulf of Mexico beach. You can visit the breathtaking Big Bend and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks. You can float down one of the state’s awesome rivers. There are so many outdoor activities in Texas, this description simply doesn’t do it justice.

All this and we have yet to bring up sports or food in TX. The Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, and the list goes on. Need we say more? Sports fans will get their fill across the board in The Lone Star State. And speaking of getting one's fill, the food scene in Texas is off the hook. Austin is becoming a foodie favorite, with its creativity and innovation showing up in food trucks and restaurants alike. And across the state you can rest assured knowing you will find great tacos (even of the breakfast assortment), Tex-Mex, and barbecue. The food  is big and bold no matter where you go! So whether you want to explore the outdoors when you’re not at work, catch a rodeo, or check out a buzzing food and drink scene, Texas has something for you.

If you’re not a PT yet but are interested in becoming one there are a few really good PT programs in Texas.
