March Traveler Of The Month: Kathleen Kamerzel
This month we’re getting to know Kathleen Kamerzel! Kathleen is passionate about helping others and understands the value of learning from others. She is an amazing DPT who started her travel adventures as a new grad and has gone from VA to Cali. She’ll hopefully work in Hawaii next! Here is what her recruiter Kristie had to say:
She really encompasses what it means to travel; she enjoys all locations, maintains a positive attitude, and really is just a joy to work with!

Why or how did you get into therapy? I have been an athlete my whole life and have been injured and seen a lot of teammates get injured, and seeing people come back from injuries always inspired me. I always knew I wanted to do something in the medical field because I love helping people and physical therapy was an awesome way to combine the ability to help people and do something that I love.
Do you have any advice for future therapists? Don’t be afraid to ask questions- as I was taught in school, you can never truly fill up your “clinical toolbox”. You can learn something from every single person you encounter, whether it’s colleagues or patients. When you get out of school, there is still so much to learn and you should take every opportunity you can to continue to add to your toolbox to make yourself a better clinician.
What made you decide to do travel therapy? I was 24 and graduating with my DPT degree, and I didn’t have anything holding me back from traveling. I loved the idea of being able to travel around the Country, doing a job that I love and getting to meet new people and see amazing places along the way. It was also a good way to help pay off those pesky student loans!
Do you have any interesting/crazy travel stories? Living on the East Coast, I add the amazing opportunity to drive across the country by myself when I accepted a job in California- that was the most amazing thing I’ve gotten to do. I’ve also been living in California, where they’ve gotten more rain in the last 2 months than the last 5 years- everyone told me it was sunny in Cali…I think they lied.
If you could have a superpower what would it be? I would want to be able to teleport to different places because it’s a lot quicker than flying. It would be nice to be able to go home for dinner and then come back to the west coast!
What are some of your hobbies? Reading, cooking, snowboarding, hiking, sailing, soccer. I love being outdoors whenever I can!
