Recruiter Spotlight: Codey Thalacker
The Advanced Family is filled with down-to-earth recruiters who are passionate about supporting the careers of therapists around the country. Today we are shining the spotlight on one of our National Therapy Recruiters, Codey Thalacker.
A native Coloradan, Codey works in our Broomfield, CO office. He has been working with PTs, OTs, and SLPs for six years and truly loves what he does.
What do you love about your job?
The people I get to interact with every day. I am lucky to say that I spend my day building relationships with my travelers and co-workers. I’ve extended my family across the country while working at Advanced.
What makes you unique as a recruiter?
I’m as honest as they come. I truly want the best for the people I get to work with and if travel isn’t for someone I talk to, I’ll say that upfront. If it is, I am clear and to the point throughout the whole process. I am a strong believer in how important trust is to a working relationship. The more my therapists and I trust each other, the stronger our relationships, and the better the results. I think it also helps that I know the industry inside and out. After 6 years in therapy recruiting, I can confidently say I know how it all works and this significantly benefits the therapists I support.
What’s your favorite traveler story?
I had a traveler join my team right out of college. She traveled with me for about a year and half. While on assignment, she thought she found the job of her dreams and went perm. We stayed in touch quite often and a little over a year later she called me up and wanted to jump right back into travel. We have done over 20 assignments together now. When I think back on this experience, it fills me with pride. Knowing that I can be the support system a person needs to get flexibility, growth, and adventure, is truly gratifying.
Do you have any advice for new grad or seasoned travelers?
Take the time to develop a relationship with your recruiter. Trust and a good working relationship go a long way. You want a partner who is just as invested in your personal and professional goals as you are.
How do you spend your time when you’re not recruiting?
My two kids are a handful. I have an eight your old boy and newborn baby girl. When I’m not spoiling them rotten, I’m either playing basketball or swinging a golf club come rain or shine!
