This SLP is going the Distance for a Good Cause
Our travel therapists have many passions aside from providing excellent healthcare. In the case of SLP Heather, her passion involves helping others through athletic events. Last year, she proved that having no athletic background couldn’t stop her from training and completing a marathon and a sprint triathlon. This year she’s back with a passion to tackle not one, but multiple running events. In the span of just a few months, she will be taking on four races that vary from a half and full marathon to a half ironman. Heather shows a passion and determination which we truly admire.
Here are the events she will conquer:
- July 17 – Chicago Rock ‘N Roll Half Marathon
- Aug. 14 – Steelhead Ironman 70.3, Benton Harbor, MI
- Aug. 28 – Transamerica Chicago Triathlon
- Oct. 9 – Bank of America Chicago Marathon
The main reason why she’s doing these events? To raise funds for the Aids Foundation of Chicago (AFC). We’ve already made a donation to help her cause, and we encourage everyone else to do the same. You can donate here. In her words:
“I love AFC. They take care of people. They test thousands annually, link HIV+ individuals to care and housing, provide state-of-the-art HIV prevention, and advocate locally and internationally for groundbreaking prevention methods.”
We are so proud that Heather is a part of the Advanced Medical family!
