Iowa may seem like just another fly over state but once you sign on for a PT, SLP, or OT assignment in the Hawkeye State, you’ll see there are plenty of traits that are uniquely Iowan.

Ragbrai

If you’re on assignment in Iowa during the summer months, you’ll hear about Ragbrai, the annual bike ride across Iowa. People come from all over the world for this scenic ride.

Skyway Systems

The interlinked  pedestrian footbridges or hallways you’ll see jutting out from buildings connect buildings to one another, so even if you’re in Iowa through the winter, you won’t have to brave all of the elements.

Five Seasons

The city of Cedar Rapids is pegged the city of Five Seasons. What’s the fifth season? FUN! Seriously, even if you’re in a small town Iowa facility, head to Cedar Rapids (2nd largest city) for breweries, restaurants, live music, and culture influenced by Czech settlers.

World’s Largest Frying Pan

In Brandon, Iowa you’ll find the World’s Largest Frying Pan. It’s 14 feet, 3 inches from the end of the handle to the opposite rim and weighs 1,020 pounds. Iowa is also home to the World’s Largest strawberry, gnome, popcorn ball, nickel, truck stop, and more!

The Maid-Rite Sandwich

While on an assignment in Iowa, you have to grab a seasoned loose meat sandwich, called a Maid-Rite. It’s like a Sloppy Joe but without the tomato-based sauce. This truly Iowan sandwich has been served since 1926. The company now has around 25 franchise locations around the state for you to grab a Maid-Rite and a milk shake.
