Upcoming Events for November
This month is pretty busy when it comes to therapy conferences. ASHA and AOTA Student Conclave will be going on this month and we’ll be at both. These events are great settings for individuals from all places to come together to interact, learn, and have a good time. Here’s a little peek at our schedule for the middle of November.
November 14-16, the ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) convention takes place in Chicago, IL. The theme for this year is “The Magic of Teamwork: Science and Service Delivery”.
ASHA describes it as:
“Magical moments impact our lives as we strive to improve the lives of individuals experiencing communication disorders through modern science and innovative, evidence-based practices.”
Of the various exciting speakers, the opening session will feature Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. After the session, attendees will receive a celebratory scoop of their famous ice cream. With over 12,000 participants and over 300 business attending, it will certainly be an awesome time. One of our mentors, Lisa Amundson, will be there keeping notes of all the happenings and will be sure to give us an inside scoop (get it?) afterwards.
AOTA/NBCOT National Student Conclave
We will also be attending AOTA/NBCOT National Student Conclave in Jacksonville, FL on November 15th and 16th. Our very own Tommy and Amy will be meeting with eager OTs to share information about travel therapy. The event is held at Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel and the event’s motto is “Discover your future”. The conference will be packed with sessions on evidence-based practices and even include mock interview sessions. It will offer countless opportunities for students to network with businesses and industry leaders.
